This listed building conversion and development project in Nailsworth involved converting a single-storey commercial building into two three-bedroom cottages by adding a second storey, and converting a two-storey mill building into two three-bedroom properties by raising the roof.
The site presented a number of constraints, including its proximity to a stream, its location within a conservation area, and the need to protect bat habitat.
Both planning permission and listed building consent were obtained for the revised proposals. The larger properties were better suited to local market demand, increasing both value and saleability.
